Room for training and career opportunities during SEOGS 2026

“You must always dream bigger. If your dream isn’t big enough to scare you, it isn’t a good dream. You have to become afraid of it.” This is what Marny Daal-Vogelland, President and CEO of Fossil Energy Consultancy Suriname N.V. and member of the organizing committee of the Suriname Energy, Oil & Gas Summit and Exhibition (SEOGS), said during a press conference regarding the sixth edition of SEOGS. The event is organized by Staatsolie.

Largest energy conference in the region

The final preparations are currently being made for the conference, which will be held from June 23 to 26 at Roeli’s Event Venue. The largest energy conference and exhibition in the Caribbean once again offers a pre-summit day, a four-day summit for executives, a three-day technical conference, and a two-day forum for local content. On the fourth day, the special fair for youth, entrepreneurs, and innovation returns. This year’s theme is “Unlocking Energy, Empowering Nations”

Focus on education and local jobs

According to Daal-Vogelland, this year’s focus is not only on the technical aspects of oil and gas, but also on education and employment within the sector. For instance, the Anton de Kom University of Suriname and other educational institutions have been granted free space at the fair to present their programs to the public, and especially to young people. The government also has a presence at the fair.

“We always try to encourage our youth in the field of education. On the last day of the fair, we are organizing a career fair with major companies looking for staff. It is not just about oil and gas. Companies such as Fernandes, Kuldipsingh, and Kersten will also be present to attract people.”

Daal-Vogelland therefore encourages people to register for free and visit the fair. “Various companies are actively looking for personnel. It is not just about companies active in the oil and gas sector.” More women in the sector

There is also a clear place for women within the sector. “The oil and gas industry is traditionally dominated by men. Many positions are still filled by men. But if we look at the management of Staatsolie, for example, we see an increasing number of female managers.”

The official opening of SEOGS takes place on June 23. The organization expects more than 14,000 visitors, over 230 speakers, and 260 exhibitors.
